Drug Study Outcomes Correlated with who Paid for the Studies

Leave to a USA Today to put the results of a recent meta-analysis of drug studies in simple bar graph form. In reputable psychiatric journals, “drugs fare favorably when companies pay for studies.” Given the intense marketing of these products, should we be surprised by this? Are medical journals becoming the equivalent of right and left wing “think tanks”?

    It’s easy to manipulate…
    It’s easy to manipulate studies, if you have the motive, without outright falsifying documents.

    Choosing the healthiest possible study groups, looking for remission in “cured” people over the shortest possible time, etc. More specifically, know what the weaknesses of your drug are, and plan a study that is least likely to turn up those weaknesses.

    You haven’t illegally falsified anything, yet you’ve managed to intentilonally mislead the public anyway. Yeah you.
