Developers look to new library as foreword to rebirth of 10th St.

Planners of the Kansas City Public Library’s new Central Branch will take a page from bookstores such as Borders and Barnes -N- Noble, which have added coffee shops to boost patronage.

The Downtown Council of Kansas City, which established a nonprofit limited-liability corporation to oversee the $37 million library project, hopes to energize the area by filling vacant storefronts with new stores, restaurants and bars.
