Defeat for Seattle Library’s Qin Cao

The jury in the case of Seattle library employee Qin Cao (earlier LISNews story here) has sided with the library in her lawsuit in which she was denied promotion.

In a unanimous ruling, the jury of seven men and five women on Friday agreed with the library’s reasoning that Cao had not demonstrated proficiency in interviewing and serving library patrons, and that she had failed a crucial personnel interview while trying to qualify as a librarian. Story from the Northwest Asian Weekly.

Cao has a degree in library science from the University of Washington, which was paid for by the Seattle Public Library.
