Deceased librarian gives library generous gift

Today’s “Deceased librarian gives library generous gift” story brought to you by They Daily Press – Newport News,VA. Even though Lottie Elizabeth Driver, a former director of the Newport News Public Library System, died at age 81 back in July 2000, the Swem Library at the College of William and Mary just received a generous gift from her in mid-October.

Driver, who received a graduate degree in library science from William and Mary, bequeathed $340,421 to Swem Library in her will. But her estate was just settled, and during those five years, William and Mary was unaware of the pending contribution.
