Customer Leads Campaign to Save Kepler’s

The San Mateo County Times has an Interview With Rick Opaterny. When he heard that Kepler’s Books, Menlo Park’s 50-year-old independent bookstore, was going bankrupt and closing forever, he launched a campaign to keep it open. An outpouring of love from the community convinced Clark Kepler, the store’s owner, to talk to his landlord and some private investors about a compromise. Opaterny, who works in online operations for Google, told staff writer Julia Scott why he believes Kepler’s is worth saving.
