That’s what you all said about CIPA
When I hear free speech types sniff and snear about how the Supreme Court is going strike down COPA, I’m reminded that they made similar comments about the “blatantly unconsitutional” CIPA.

Funny; when I hear fanatics sniff and snear at the idea of free speech I am reminded of the Withchunts from 1485 to the early 18th century, and the anywhere from 30,000 to seven million victims who were burned at the stake and the children as young as seven years old who were subjected to the most horric tortures (Deviance and Moral Boundaries and High Road to the Stake). I am reminded of the Holocaust and the six million dead from that, not to mention the little known persecution of homosexuals and political deviants like communists who were also consigned to the concentration camps. Not to mention the book burnings of the Nazi anti-intellectuals. And then the purges of Uncle Joe Stalin and the others of his ilk (My Mind On Trial). The Bible Wars of the late 19th century United States where Protestants rioted at the very idea of allowing Catholics to study a catholic bible instead of the King James version. The Taliban who outlawed paper bags. The banning of Pokemon trading cards in Saudi Arabia (where Barbie has been banned for the last ten years for being a Jewish slut), Malaysia, and Indonesia. The summary arrest and imprisonment of authors in numerous countries. And finally, the willful murder of uncounted Afghanistan civilians and a plausible possible count of 37,700 dead Iraqis; the last of which was justified by the most egregious lies and coverups and protected by prohibitions against admitting the truth about President Moron.
And if I were an Aussie I’d probably also say: Remember Gallipoli!

Since you’ve almost certainly never studied the issues of fanaticism, you wouldn’t be aware that the fanatic mindset of censorship proponents dates back to the First Crusade in the 11th century. At least. But, then, you seem to have a vested interest in denying reality. I imagine that those others who study the issues from a multidisciplinary viewpoint also find legislation such as CIPA and COPA or “we must protect the children” to be expressions of that reactionism.
