Controversy spikes book’s popularity

For a book that has been out since 2003, “The Kite Runner” has been a popular book to read locally.
Jim Wilson, director of the Burke County Public Library, said all five of the library’s printed copies are checked out, as well as one of the audio books.
“There has been more demand for the book since the issue with the school,” Wilson said. “I’m glad we had several copies for people to check out for those who hadn’t read it and wanted to.”
He said “The Kite Runner” has always been a popular read, but never this much.
