Congressman to use Thomas Jefferson’s Quran at Swearing In

From the AP, a story about the first Muslim U.S. Congressman to be sworn in (today), Rep.-elect Keith Ellison, D-Minn, and how he chose to use Thomas Jefferson’s copy of the Quran, a part of the rare book collection at the LOC, for his swearing in. The chief of the Library of Congress’ rare book and special collections division, Mark Dimunation, will walk the Quran across the street to the Capitol and bring it back after the ceremony.

    Well that should shut everyone the hell up. It should, it probably won’t but it should. Heck I’d want to be sworn in on on of Dr. Alex Comfort’s books, but then again I’d not stand for office.

    Hahahaha. That’s too funny. Way to give the finger to Goode, Ellison. Of course, the official swearing in doesn’t have any books, so all this crap was over an unofficial swearing in.

    Ellison admires Jefferson’s ideals so much so that the fact that Jefferson owned slaves and had children with Sally whatshername…

    did not deter him from using the book…
