Colmubus, GA City manager resigns from library board

City Manager Isaiah Hugley has resigned from the Muscogee County Library Board.

In his resignation letter dated Wednesday and addressed to board chairman Tom Wade, Hugley didn’t explain why he resigned, but he had said during the past month that he was trying to avoid a conflict of interest as the board sought the city government’s approval to buy a controversial sculpture.

The board voted Oct. 28 to spend $250,000 on the then-undisclosed piece, which is due to be erected in front of the Columbus Public Library by Sept. 19.
