Gary D. Price wrote to let us know that there is a librarian running for state Senate in Colorado.
“The two men vying for the state Senate seat representing Broomfield, Adams and Weld counties champion much the same issues. Though ideologically, they fall on separate ends of the political spectrum, both cite education and business as high concerns for the state and the district.
Curt Darius Williams, a 35-year-old academic librarian from Westminster, is scheduled to announce his candidacy for state Senate District 23 on Saturday. He filed a letter of intent for the seat last month. He’ll challenge Broomfield Republican Shawn Mitchell, who served three terms in state House District 33 before announcing his run for the senate seat. Williams has never held political office.”
I don’t mean to nitpick, but…
I don’t want to get into a MLS v. non-MLS argument, but this guy works in the Oliver Lester Math/Physics Library at the University of Colorado as a Library Technician III.
Huh? Re:I don’t mean to nitpick, but…
He also has an MLIS so where’s the nit or the pick?
Education obviously plays a factor in his ambition but if he wasn’t running for office or maintaining a site like Resource Shelf would an MLS or MLIS apply? If his current postion is what he was originally shooting for I would say get a degree in math or physics and minor in Library Science.
Re:Huh? Re:I don’t mean to nitpick, but…
His campaign website (at least the about Curt part) doesn’t inidicate that he has an MLIS. It does indicate that he has a Masters in English, which he recieved in 1995.
I wonder why he didn’t put the MLIS? I’m actually asking this in a non-smart-ass way. I would think that would be something you would want to put on your campaign web page.
Re:Huh? Re:I don’t mean to nitpick, but…
Non-smart-ass question requiring a smart-ass answer:
Probably because he didn’t want to keep being asking during debates: “You need a Masters for that?”
Re:Huh? Re:I don’t mean to nitpick, but…
I’d rather admit that I had a Masters in Library Science than a Masters in English. At least it can get you a job.

Curt Darius Williams (the guy who is running for the state senate seat in Colorado) maintains Resource Shelf? I thought Gary Price maintained it.
Oof
No your right, when I didn’t have any luck with the first link I went to the other and somehow crossed wires on the two. So Curt Williams may not have an MLIS, ergo your nit to pick.
