Chicago Historical Homicide Project

A colleague at work pointed out the Chicago Historical Homicide Project website. It’s based on 60 uninterrupted years’ worth of Chicago Police Department homicide records. They have transcribed and coded more than eleven thousand homicide records (1870 to 1930) and put them into a very detailed searchable database. The site also has historical context (legal, labor, social) for the homicides and it highlights a couple dozen “Crimes of the Century.”
