California Libraries Face Possible Closure In City Budget Crunch

The Curmudgeony Librarian writes “Bad news for the residents of Salinas California as the city council voted 6-1 to close the three branches of the Salinas city library.
Facing a budget deficit of $9.5 million, the city was forced to cut funding to the library as well as several recreational centers.
The city hopes that these closing can be avoided if voters approve three local tax measures on the Nov. 2 ballot.”
