Building of Library was Controversial Issue Back in 1904

This one deserves reading, if only just for some of the quotes…

“As the Oil City Library officially marks its 100th anniversary Tuesday, it is hard to imagine the very idea of building a new library during a time of prosperity and growth would ever meet with protest. That was the case, though, as a pro-library faction tried to rally support for a new library building in 1900.
