Books to laptops

Now here’s something I’d never though I’d write. A Republican member of the Texas House has written a bill he hopes will put laptops in the hands of a quarter of Texas high school students in the next two years.
News 8 Austin Has a small blurb. The measure passed Wednesday and would restructure the decades old textbook adoption process, replacing it with an effort to stimulate the use of technology in Texas classrooms. The Houston Chronicle has some more details on House Bill 4.

Of course, whether or not computers are helping education is still open for Dbate.

    One more way to use technology…
    to deny the “theory” of evolution! It’s probably all political payback for Dell, who contributes heavily to republican politicos. But hey, that’s just the cynical take.

    Why are Republicans putting smut and internet porno into the hands of impressionable and feeble-minded 17 year-old children who might be harmed by offensive ideas such as Democratic parties and personal liberties?
