Book Luster Nancy Pearl Retires

Librarianship’s rock star, Nancy Pearl, is retiring this week from Washington Center for the Book at the Seattle Public Library. While many librarians roll their eyes when they hear the comment, “you must really read a lot,” that’s exactly what Nancy Pearl does. She is old-school in all the right ways, having built her career on reading, reviewing and recommending books.

Pearl’s own tastes are borderless. The bookshelves in her Eastlake condominium are filled with a restrained mix of old and new, with no particular attention paid to collectability or category….her tastes are rarely in line with best-seller lists.

Pearl is working on Book Lust 2 and will continue to read, review and share her passion for the printed word. A lengthy article is here at the Seattle Post Intelligencer.
