Anonymous Patron writes “The Toronto Star Reports In a shocking turn of events, the Toronto District School Board voted last night to add 65 full-time librarian positions to its elementary schools at a cost of $4.8 million.
At a meeting where it was feared the board would cut 70 education assistants, it decided not only to keep those jobs at a cost of $2.5 million, but also to add library staff even though trustees won’t know where the money will come from until some time in May.”
Totally offtopic
Sorry… I’m applying to a bunch of library schools and would like to solicit input from someone “in the know” (such someone with an MLS) to give me input related to school choice, careers etc. I have searched all over to find some kind of librarian discussion board or something where I can ask this question, but all I found were blogs and mailing lists, and blogs are not really appropriate, and I hate mailing lists… I don’t know anyone else who has been in my position and don’t know who to talk to or where to ask. (Probably because I’m not a librarian yet…)
