Interesting piece at the New York Times titled “For Some, the Blogging Never Stops” which is about those for whom blogging is their life’s work. Personally, ahem, I don’t know what they’re talking about, but maybe YOU do.
I can quit any time I want, and often do.
Blogaholics
“Sometimes, too, the realization that no one is reading sets in. A few blogs have thousands of readers, but never have so many people written so much to be read by so few. By Jupiter Research’s estimate, only 4 percent of online users read blogs.”[NYT article]
I don’t know. This NYT writer obviously never did a withdrawal project in a library. If he had, he would have seen thousands of books never opened after the cataloger finished with them or only used once or twice. In the 80s I went through and selected for possible withdrawal [in a medical library], anything written before I graduated from college [20 years before], then put back on the shelves the ones with excellent drawings, anatomy or historical/social content. But the others.. .some still had the pocket and sign out card with name, address and phone number (privacy alert!) even though OSUL computerized around 1970.
