BC Libraries lacking librarians

The Cowichan Valley News Leader Schools throughout the Cowichan Valley are facing empty libraries due to low librarian funding, some trustees and teachers are saying, and ultimately children are paying the price.
Of the 26 schools within School District 79, only secondary schools Frances Kelsey and Cowichan have a full-time librarian. All other schools have a percentage of librarian time allocated to them, with school libraries staffed on average only 11 hours per week.
The 40 students at Yount elementary in Youbou aren’t given access to a librarian at all.
