Bancroft Library at Berkeley is moving, so it won’t move!

Cortez writes “I don’t care how many kegs of beer they have, I’m not volunteering for this one: The closing means the university must move 500,000 books, 50 million manuscript items and 2.8 million photographs. Its cultural artifacts range from the nugget that is believed to have set off the 1849 California Gold Rush, to the largest collection of ancient Egyptian papyrus documents in the Western Hemisphere, to an assemblage of nearly everything ever printed about the O.J. Simpson murder trial, which the Bancroft staff believes is a valuable piece of Americana.”
