AZ Librarian loses election to incumbent

Librarian loses election to incumbent: Democrat Rebecca Schneider, the overnight manager at ASU’s Hayden Library, lost her race for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in Congressional District 6.

The Republican incumbent Jeff Flake took 62 percent of the vote, Schneider took 35 percent and Libertarian Rick Biondi took 3 percent of the vote.

Schneider, who spent her election night at the Wyndham Phoenix Hotel with other Democratic candidates, said she is sad about the outcome of tonight’s election.

“My personal belief is if Prop. 102 was not on the ballot, which mobilized people’s paranoid homophobe base … then more Democrats would have won in this state,” she said.
