Author admits making up memoir of surviving Holocaust

Eleven years after the publication of her best-selling Holocaust memoir – a heartwarming tale of a small Jewish girl trekking across Europe and living with wolves – the Massachusetts author yesterday admitted the whole story was a hoax.
In a statement issued by her Belgian lawyer, Misha Defonseca of Dudley, whose book, “Misha: A Memoire of the Holocaust Years,” has been translated into 18 languages and is the basis for a new French movie, “Survivre avec les Loups” (“Surviving With the Wolves”), confessed that she is not Jewish and that she spent the war safely in Brussels.

    Truth or Dare!
    What a bitch! This woman deserves public humiliation for writing falsehoods about her life during WW2. Not only is she a liar but she is not Jewish. To say ” I felt I was Jewish is a crock.” I saw a Black guy in Austin and he was panhandling- OOH, I felt I was an impoverished Black guy.Maybe I will write a book about my life on the streets. This old hag needs to be embarrassed for the rest of her life. Greggo

    Sold some books
    The revelation of the author’s falsehoods spurred sales of the book. The sales rank on Amazon was over 1 million before the story came out. This story has pushed the sales rank up to around 2000. See: http://charteo.us/amzn/items/0963525778

    This book was not flying of the shelves before this news event. Maybe it would have been better to let the book continue to languish.
