Library Duster, Michael McGrorty, has written a brief piece about the life and passing of August Fruge’, director of the University of California Press.

The Los Angeles Times reports the death of August Frugé, longtime director of the University of California Press. Frugé literally revolutionized the concept of the university press, changing it from an operation intended to reproduce scholarly monographs to a more vibrant operation with a broad readership and not incidentally, profitability.
