Asian library at UC Berkeley is first of its kind in U.S.

mercurynews.com: A new $46.4 million, four-story East Asian Library opened last week at the University of California-Berkeley, with 450,000 items in Chinese, Japanese and Korean under one roof for students, scholars and members of the public alike.

The university says it is the first freestanding structure at a U.S. university built solely for East Asian collections.
