ArchiveGrid.org: Archival Info Wants to Be Free!

Lydia Lee writes RLG, a membership organization of over 150 university libraries, archives, and museums, is the non-profit behind RedLightGreen, a popular book research site. This time, we’re trying to make it easier to find primary source materials at ArchiveGrid (archivegrid.org).

Just launched, ArchiveGrid brings thousands of archives worldwide together, making it easier to find primary source collections–information that’s otherwise very hard to track down. Historians, scholars, and genealogists all provided input into the new service.

Thanks to a foundation grant, ArchiveGrid is freely accessible through May 31st. If additional grants funds or sponsorship are obtained, it will remain free of charge; otherwise subscriptions will be available for institutions and individuals alike. Hope you have the chance to try it out and let us know what you think.”
