According to a report from The Smoking Gun, the book is a work of fiction, not the true life story as the author claimed it to be. The book, which brought tears to Oprah’s eyes, has sold 2.5 million copies. Why does Oprah set the literary tone for the country, as opposed to say James Billington?” Oprah’s fallout with Jonathan Franzen was followed by the club reverting to classic books for three years. How will this revelation affect the club?
