I clicked on the story today because there was something I wanted to reread in it and the link just went to LISNEWS. I had forgotten to put the link into the story yesterday. Sorry about the mistake. The link should be working now.
Kindle Software for Mac Under Development
Full article here
Amazon yesterday announced the launch of “Kindle for PC”, a free Windows application that will allow users to read e-Books purchased from the company’s Kindle Store on their computers. While the news release made no mention of a Mac version of the application, Fast Company reports (via 9 to 5 Mac) that a Mac version is in fact under development.
Mmmm
‘Amazon has released a version of the reader for Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPod Touch devices.’
Not outside the US they haven’t.

Yes they do have to deal
Yes they do have to deal with international publishing rights, but that doesn’t mean they can just publicise things without taking it into account. Even selling the Kindles internationally involves buying them from the US, paying import duties and getting a lower quality version than that sold in the US.
For me it’s a matter of accuracy in advertising.
