‘Altered books’ send out messages

Here’s A Report from Danbury News Times – Danbury,CT – on a relatively new art form in classrooms known as “altered books,” Students take old tomes and turn the pages into a scrapbook of objects and messages.

“They’ve basically taken a book and used their creative imagination to turn it into a piece of art that also sends out a message,” Sherman art teacher Alisyn Hamilton said Tuesday. “It’s the first time we’ve done anything like this here. It’s a wonderful idea and the children embraced it so well.”
