I wrote on how the ALA can proceed now that it has decided it will become involved in advising its members on internet filtering alternatives. Transparency, ease of use, easy filter shut down and five year cost of ownership should all be included in the ALA’s evaluation.”
Jay say This is not an ideal outcome. But using its members’ market power the ALA can preserve its commitment to intellectual freedom in the face of mandatory filtering.
