A First for Nigeria: A Presidential Library

Here’s an interesting article about Nigeria’s most recent former President, Olusegun Obasanjo and the project he intends to focus on during his retirement, the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) a controversial project but one Obasanjo said is modeled on “the United States’ presidential library concept, pioneered by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt”. The plans for the facility call for three major sections: the main museum/library, recreation and leisure services, housing/support facilities.

Plans are ongoing to locate the museum and library on a “rocky elevated zone to provide the type of isolated tranquility necessary for scholarship and museum appreciation”. Big oil in Nigeria is paying the tab.
