A Short One from the Hindustan Times reports The government’s move to create a national digital library (NDL) is an excellent idea, if one that’s been around for some time. The department of information and technology (DIT) apparently proposes to set up the NDL by integrating all information into a system that would be accessible to everyone. So far only sundry departments of state governments and the Centre have heeded the call of techno-gurus to store information in digitised form on their computer servers, and it makes a lot of sense to integrate all these into a single accessible system that could be archived at will.
