Librarian honored for refusing to ban books

“A Montgomery County librarian who became the center of controversy for refusing to ban books has been honored for upholding the First Amendment.”

The PEN American Center named Jerilynn Adams Williams the 2003 winner of the PEN/Newman’s Own First Amendment Award. She received $25,000. The award was established 11 years ago by actor Paul Newman and author A.E. Hotchner to honor U.S. residents.” (from The Houston Chronicle)
