From the Israeli paper Haaretz (meaning ‘evening’ in Hebrew), some thoughts and observations on reading habits in Arabic-speaking countries.
They direct us to a website where one can download the Harry Potter books in Arabic, and discuss various points of view about what Muslims do or don’t/should or shouldn’t read…sacred texts (the Koran), secular literature or both. Pretty interesting stuff.
Interesting, but….
Not to nitpick or anything (okay, that’s exactly what I’m doing), but Haaretz actually means “the land” in Hebrew — as in “the land of Israel.”
