Book Authors to Give 21-Year-Old Library Poster a Digital Makeover

Press Release: With help from authors around the world, programmer, Brandi Young, is digitally recreating a childhood poster that took first prize in a National Library Week poster contest 21 years ago. Starting with an image of a gigantic empty bookcase, hundreds of books submitted by authors will be added one at a time offering visitors not only a unique visual experience, but also a new and interesting way to find the next addition to their own book collection.

    I AGREE
    I think that having an integrated information literacy program in elementary schools would be a great idea.

    I know that I began to really get interested in my studies when reading and libraries became important to me.

    I came from a very poor family and my only access to reading material was through the library, both public and school libraries were very helpful.

    I think that if we began to challenge ourselve in this profession to train trainers, and people who really wanted to advance information and critical thinking skills, something for which the United States is known for it would be something that sparks the imagination of the next generation of library workers…not just bookish in the print sense but sparking innovation and imaginative and interative use of technology in teaching information science would be so refreshing to the profession. Graphics and media would quickly draw the people outside the circle into the circle once more.
