Are Public Libraries Obsolete?
It is possible for people to own a computer, an e-reader and some paper books. It’s possible for us to own and use both a TV and a radio. Video didn’t entirely kill the radio star, though radio no longer holds a central position in our hierarchy of news and entertainment.
ads = malware?
I went to that link from another referral, and immediately an animated popup took over my entire screen. I closed the tab and will not go back to it. Advertisers, if you want to get people to read your ad, stop making them look like malware.
Yet Another “Libraries Are Dying” Piece…
Yeah libraries are “obsolete” – that’s why at our library, every day this summer we’ve had people counts well over 2,000 per day. In the last two weeks of June alone our library checked out over 49,000 items (and that was just stats for two weeks). Our computers are filled every day and we have waiting lists.
People have been calling libraries “obsolete” for nearly 10 years now and yet here we are and still going strong in many towns and cities.
Also agree with above comment – linked site has ridiculous numbers of pop-ups and is very difficult to get to actual story (of course that could be the way the security is set up on our computers).
Libraries are obsolete
The library is alive and thriving as a PLACE. What a concept, the library as a place. Where people go to _______ and ________ every day. Filling in the blanks requires very current information because the successful library has shifted with the times and remains central to people’s lives.
I can’t help but think of two
I can’t help but think of two functions essential to the human body that people come to the library to do…
