Libraries are for books, not adverts

Interesting Little Letter To The Editor from the UK:

The reason that I don’t feel a warm glow of gratitude to Leeds City Council is that the library makeover was a triumph of style over substance. After visiting the library last weekend I was very surprised to find that the library was now being paid to advertise for a private company (BT). Is this the same all over Leeds? I feel this is a very important development which should be looked into. Will the library be allowed to advertise McDonald’s or perhaps Budweiser? The library is a place for books and for the public to get information about local things, it is the place to get unbiased information. The library is there to serve its local community, not take advantage of it. What will be next, a Coke advertisement next to the children’s books?
