Sad News out of AZ where shrinking funds and a hiring freeze have eroded library staff to the point where a reduction in operating hours is necessary, city officials say. Despite shortages, the main branch of the Mesa Public Library will remain open Sundays.
The announcement of Sunday closures drew dismay from Mesa residents and varied explanations from city officials.
“I’ll probably start volunteering for the library,†Sides said, upon hearing of the predicament. “It would give me something to do after school.â€
