Auditor added to library lawsuit

Great Western Dragon writes “In an update to an earlier article, the City of Selah upped the odds in their lawsuit against the Yakima Valley Regional Library by adding the Washington State Auditor’s office to the original complaint. Selah attorney Bob Noe claims that the library lacks the legal authority to collect taxes through an annexation.

Additionally, YVRL is countering with an argument that the aforementioned contract signed in 1977 is void. The contract stated that, upon cancellation of library services, all materials contained in the branch become property of the City of Selah. However a different contract, singed November 2003, extending services for one year has a far different clause stating that all materials are property of YVRL.
