New dean at GSLIS Illinois

Rochelle Hartman writes "Humanities guy and co-founder of the e-journal Postmodern Culture John Unsworth has been named as Dean of the University of Illinois Graduate School of Library and Information Science. He suceeds Linda C. Smith who has been Acting Dean of the school since Leigh Estabrook resigned her position to become a faculty member in the school in 2001.

Although Unsworth does not have a library degree listed anywhere on his C.V., 'he specializes both in 20th century American literature and in computing in the humanities. He is particularly interested in the history, function and culture of publishing,' according the UIUC press release.

No word on whether or not he knits.
