Yahoo, jailed journalists settle lawsuit

Yahoo Inc. on Tuesday settled a lawsuit with two Chinese journalists who were jailed after the company provided Chinese authorities with information about their online activities. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

So sue me

My very first thought, good on them for settling. My next thought, good on them for suing. Third and final thought, lawyers, though mostly evil, do sometimes work for the good.

Not good enough!

Do Yahoo really think that this is adequate to purge them of their sins? They are the reason that these jounalist have been imprisoned and no amount of money will fix that, they have betrayed their users. They must change their policies of collusion with tyranical regimes, and do penance possibly by major sponsorship of Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch etc. Even then they will be stained for a long time to come.
