Line-item moderation

Now, I know that the president never got the line-item veto that he wanted, so I'm not holding my breath, but I'd love to be able to moderate parts of comment. Because there's part that's funny and part that's insightful, and I'd like to give the right moderation.

PS: Does anybody else even remember the line-item veto debates?

same direction

At least both those moderations go the same direction. I think it's much more difficult when you are trying to moderate a post that's half informative but then the other half turns into flamebait. I know the guidelines say to concentrate on modding up but then that feels like rewarding a flamebait or troll post. Then also, I don't want to bury an informative post even if the half that's not informative is just the poster being a jerk.
