The Morning Call reports that plans are underway to celebrate the Doylestown Public Library's fiftieth anniversary with a special dignitary from the library world as guest, First Lady Laura Bush. But Mrs. Bush hasn't responded to the library's invitation, and the library sorely needs new carpeting anyway. It hasn't been changed since 1988, and Roberta Yakovich, the library's children's services manager says that "when it rains the carpet in the children's area smells like ''a number of dirty diapers.''
