What gives?
Nice story, but I was struck by something in a paragraph later in the story about the books "being separated into piles of grade, gender and even ethnicity." What gives?
Nothing gives. It's simply South Carolina. Ya know, Strom Thurmond Territory.
And for those about to jump me for "alluding" to the fact that racism is still alive and well in the South, keep in mind that tons of my family come from North Carolina. It's not like I don't know what I'm talking about.
"I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either." -Trent Lott (R) Mississippi
