\”Naugatuck\’s school superintendent, Dr. Alice Carolan, said fourth-grade boys who read the book were making up and using unflattering names for students and teachers, like Stinky and Smelly.

“The book was beginning to take on a life of its own,\’\’ Carolan said. So the school\’s principal, Rebecca Sciacca, removed the two copies of the book, the fourth in a series, from the library.\”

\”Sciacca would not comment about her decision, saying only that she encourages good literature in the school. Carolan has vowed to keep the book out of the library unless parents go to the school board and request its return. Neither the school board nor the Parent Teacher Association would comment on the issue.\”
