Mary Schmich started constructing her virtual library the other day. Twenty minutes into it, she was more worn out than someone who'd been hauling wooden shelves up the stairs. She's using Google's MyLibrary, she says there's just one problem: "But there is one problem with the virtual library. They say you can't judge a book by its cover. But you do remember a book by its cover."

Some offer multiple cover choices
I use an application on Facebook that offers me a wide variety of covers for the books I add to my library. Almost always I can find the exact edition I own. And yes, there is a great feeling of satisfaction and recognition when I can do that.
