The Union
Tribune
in San Diego, is Reporting \”Two books
containing pictures that a San Diego judge deemed
child pornography will remain on library shelves
because a committee of experts that reviewed the
questioned pages has concluded that the photographic
work is \”culturally and artistically significant,\” library
officials said yesterday. \”The books, \”Twenty-Five Years as an Artist,\” by David
Hamilton, and \”States of Grace: Photographs,
1964-1989,\” by Graham Ovenden, came under scrutiny
after police investigating a convicted pedophile found
that he had photocopies of some of the images.

San Diego Superior Court Judge William Kennedy said
last month that the photocopies which pedophile
Charles Davis possessed were pornographic. The
books contain pictures of naked girls in various poses.
Davis, 49, told authorities that he made photocopies of
the pictures so that he would not molest children.
