CT Now has a Story on how a few books are getting libaries in trouble. Titles include \’After the First Death\’, \’Deliverance\’ and \’Kaffir Boy\’The three best-selling, award-winning books have different story lines but a common thread. All have been the subject of parental complaints about their violence, sex and profanity. In each case, Connecticut parents argued they were inappropriate reading for high school students and should be removed from the curriculum. Educators defended the works for their literary value and as an acceptable way to broach unsettling issues that students encounter every day.


While experts can\’t agree on whether the number of such challenges is on the rise, concerns about the violence and sexuality saturating youth culture has provocative works under a microscope by some parents.
