    Multimedia. That’s pretty much the only thing that’s challenging the threshold of “consumer-level” broadband internet. In my estimation, most people who use broadband internet at home don’t “need” all that speed. The number one selling point is still the “always on” feature of the connection, and the fact that you don’t have to dial up. I figure that many people still use their computers for typing documents, web surfing, e-mail, and playing the occasional game. There probably aren’t a ton of people who would primarily use their computers in the place of their televisions, stereos, radios, and DVD players. (I’m the exception.)

    I happen to live in an area that has Verizon FIOS available. I’m a bit envious of those lucky people who have good enough interior wiring for it.
