Very unfortunate. Sadly, this will lead some people to think that spending money on new buildings for libraries is a waste of time. Where I live, there is a library trying to get a new building and they have been thwarted so far by some local residents who don't think they need a new library (they do, the facility is in terrible shape.)
Obviously this wasn't planned well at all by the library board, the library director/management, and the local government.
Sad all around.
