Only $65
You can get a copy of the book for only $65. I wish they had not given this book a textbook price. It is a 200 page book.

  Sorry, but $65 isn’t at all unusual for a specialized 200-page book in librarianship or most other relatively narrow fields. “Sorry” is right: I’d like it if it were otherwise. On the other hand, I have a pretty good idea what happens when you don’t do the level of publicity, sending review copies, etc., that ALA Editions does…and it’s not pretty. It costs a fair amount to get a book copyedited, produced, and perhaps most importantly marketed and into the hands of the right reviewers. For specialized books, that cost is amortized over a few hundred or, at best, a very few thousand copies. And ALA Editions certainly isn’t alone: look at Chandos prices!
  
  Full disclosure: I’m finishing a brief–by contract–book that will be published by ALA Editions. I suspect it will be priced at $40-$45, but it will also be a lot less than 200 pages. This is the reality of professional markets–which don’t have the assured sales of textbooks.
