Watership Down author Richard Adams: I just can't do humans

Topic:

Watership Down, a story Richard Adams made up to scare his kids in the car, was rejected seven times before it became a classic. As a new illustrated edition is published, the author tells Alison Flood why he loves making children wince and weep

How delightful to read this hitherto unknown (by me) background on my all-time favorite book! And those illustrations are absolutely gorgeous ... wonder if we'll be seeing that new edition in the US at all? [Edited to add: Never mind! That edition is at least two years old, and it's plenty available stateside. Good to know.]
